About me

Alaska Mittelette, a french american animal behavior consultant, spent the last ten years working and training in various structures of the animal world, both with wild and domestic animals, in France and abroad.

From 2012 to 2022, she integrated and explored different professional animal fields:

  • zoological,

  • veterinarian,

  • agricultural,

  • caritative,

  • breeding,

  • falconry,

  • and animal training.

There, she met and learned from various experts: veterinarians, behavioral veterinarians,  veterinary technicians, animal managers, zoo keepers, animal trainers, breeders (canine, bovine, ovine, caprine...), falconers, ethologists, animal behavior consultants...

From 2014 to 2016, she mainly studied  the behavior , care, nutrition and rights of animals, agricultural policy and livestock management during her CGEA course (Conduct and Management of Agricultural Operations) with the "zoo keeper/animal care" option at the MFR of Carquefou.

Her passion for the care, respect and understanding of animal cognition then pushed her to create her own animal rescue in 2018, Someone Not Something. She launched her animal behavior consulting company shortly thereafter in 2020: Alaska's Animal School.

She subsequently deepened her expertise in  behavioral sciences  by attending numerous international conferences on the subject. In her relentless pursuit of animal knowledge, several courses in english and french followed, always focused on the physical and emotional integrity of the animal and their humans.

She obtained her ACACED (certificate of knowledge of pets, dogs, cats and exotics) and became the  10th french trainer  to obtain the Fear Free Certified® Professional certification in 2021. Fear Free®'s mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety and stress in companion animals by inspiring and educating the people who care for them (veterinarians, trainers, veterinary technicians, groomers, ...).

In 2022, in addition to continuing her education, she carried out a three-month mentorship with Lisa Longo (CPBT-KA, CCPDT®, CBCC-KA, LLA, LLP, FFCPE) of Animal Academyanimal behavior consultant and pioneer in France.

She is currently and simultaneously specializing in sensory impaired animals (deaf/blind/hearing/visually impaired) while preparing additional certifications. She then joins the team of professionals within the dog rescue organization "Ethicanine", specialized in the rehabilitation of dogs in need, respectful of their physical and psychological integrity.

In 2024, she is hired as a Moderator amongst colleagues for Muzo+.

Alaska shares her life with a galah parrot, a rabbit, four cats, a sensory impaired dog, and fishes.
